About

Life and prosperity for all South Africans, depends heavily on our precious water resources.  Fortunately, we have many capable and qualified scientists, engineers, technologists and technicians who, over decades, have established a sound foundation for the use and management of our water resources through research and development projects.  The Department Water and Sanitation, as sector leader, is responsible for the development of water infrastructure and is guided and supported by Institutions such as the Water Research Commission, large Water Boards, CSIR, Universities, Professional Institutions and dedicated private organizations.  The WATERInfo website will be a central source of information on all aspects of water for all interested and affected parties such as the important stakeholders mentioned above, including the public, schools, tertiary institutions, semi-skilled to professionals, etc.

The website will –

  • be continuously updated and relevant to a broad audience.
  • be directly linked to other important information – documents, photos, videos, news, events, tools, technical support info, etc.
  • support and facilitate capacity building and knowledge transfer efforts in the water sector and all other water users.
  • not replace existing structures but be a’ WATERPEDIA’ for all users.
