Climate

Overview
The wide expanses of ocean on three sides of South Africa have a moderating influence on its climate.

Rainfall
The South African rainfall pattern is unreliable and unpredictable.

Temperature
South African temperatures tend to be lower than that of other regions at the same latitude, such as Australia, due to the greater elevation of the continent above sea level.

Wind
The entire South African coastline is fairly windy. Mean annual winds speed along our coastline exceeding 4m/s and in some spots it exceeds even 6m/s.
